Parents in Australia were divided over a bundle of toys from K-Mart, which some say depict animals a bit too accurately.
Pictures of the farm animal set were posted on Facebook, with a mother writing, “I have a little more than I bargained for when I bought my little one this bag of farm animals at $ 19. “
In the pictures you can see that the sow figurine has engorged teats and nipples.
The bull model appears to show a penis or other appendage protruding from the genital area, and other anatomically correct features include the cow’s udders.
While some commentators on the original post thought there was nothing to worry about, others expressed concern.
“I wouldn’t give them to my child, they are too detailed,” said a woman after seeing the toys.
“I find that a bit strong,” said another, especially of the bull figure.
Another wrote: “Yes, some parts can be seen in function, but you can’t turn around and turn real animals, you can’t avoid that with these toys. This is inappropriate in my opinion.
For those who didn’t find it inappropriate or “offensive” (as the toys were called), there was little problem.
“I am amazed at how many people are annoyed by this,” said one woman.
“My daughter has been able to tell the difference between a bull and a heifer since she can speak. “
“I have to start the conversation someday, explaining with farm animals is a good lead for humans. Your kid probably won’t even mention it, ”said another.
Another comment read: “Obviously some people have never visited a farm or taught their children the correct terminology for body parts.”
While the set does not appear to be available on the K-Mart website, there are a number of other similar ones available here in the UK. like that on Amazon.
